With cooler temperatures and beautiful weather, fall is the perfect time of year to get out and enjoy all that is going on in the Greensboro, NC area. Conveniently, there are plenty of festivals, shows, and events on the local calendar for you to choose from. Whether you are interested in live music or the performing arts, there is something here for everyone.
 
To help you plan your fall outings in Greensboro this year, following are a few events going on in the area that you may want to check out:
 
First Friday
September 2 at GreenHill, 6-9pm
 
What better way to kick off the month of September than with some live music and great company? Come out with your friends and family to enjoy the “Winnebago Soul” sounds of Heads Up Penny! This group hails from Raleigh, and they perform a variety of thoughtful soul tunes that crowds will enjoy. This is a free event, but there is also a cash bar.
 
National Folk Festival
September 9-11 at the Greensboro Historical Museum
 
The Greensboro Historical Museum and its surrounds become the location for a celebration of Asian-Pacific American history. This family-friendly event is perfect for individuals of all ages, and there will be music, crafts, and dancing for all attendees to enjoy. This festival is a way to get the community excited about the Smithsonian traveling exhibition that will be coming to Greensboro on September 24 – I Want the Wide American Earth: An Asian-Pacific American Story.
 
Paperhand Puppet Intervention: The Beautiful Beast
September 17 & 18 at the Carolina Theatre
 
The 17th Annual Paperhand Puppet Intervention show is coming to the Carolina Theatre this September. The theme of this year’s show is The Beautiful Beast. Be prepared to be amazed by the monsters and beasts that exist in dreams and folktales. The show uses giant puppets to tell whimsical stories and captivate audiences. Tickets are only $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students, and $10 for children ages 4-12, making this an event that the whole family can attend. Special rates are also available if you would like to bring a group of 25 or more.
